Dave Taylor, member,

I have played Badminton for many decades. I started at King Alfred as a boy then played at Hove Pavilion. On moving to Worthing I joined Arcadian BC. I joined the Worthing & District committee, was Treasurer for many years before becoming Chairman. I represented Worthing on the Sussex County Committee where I am now President. I played for Sussex Veterans (now Masters) in various age groups I now play at Littlehampton B&S Club on Wednesday mornings. I represent Sussex at the Badminton England General Meetings. I was President of the Brighton League and now President of the merged League.

Hon. Secretary – Sara Hall

I started playing badminton nearly 3 decades ago, in a one court hall in a village in Kent. I was the first player from our club to be selected to play for Kent juniors. Since then, I have played for Kent, Middlesex and Sussex at County level, attended both the World & European Senior Badminton Championships as part of the England squad and played for various local league clubs. I am captain of the Horsham Arun ladies team that play in division 1 of the Surrey League, and in recent years have played for Worthing Non-Descripts, Steyning and Homestead in the Brighton and Worthing Leagues.”

Paul Fletcher – Chair Person

I started playing badminton around 11 years ago and was instantly hooked. I play between two and five times a week for several clubs, including a club I set up with a group of friends, the Brighton Valiant’s. I’m always looking to improve my game and what I lack in skill I certainly make up for in enthusiasm and effort! I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to play in the ICC for Sussex ‘B’ a few years back and I’m hoping my dedication will once again ensure I can do the same in future years. I was honoured to have been elected for this position and I’m looking forward to contributing in this somewhat challenging year.

Sara Addison – League Secretary / Treasurer.

I’ve been on the badminton scene since I was 9, progressing through all age groups in juniors, then seniors and now slowly working my way through all the masters ages! Many of my first matches were in church halls with one court, and they took forever …

I had my debut for the Sussex Senior team when I was 15 and I have about 200+ caps for the county now. From a county perspective I also help with selection of the senior teams and am captain of the Sussex 50s. I still feel immensely proud every time I put on my Sussex shirt for a match. In the past two years I have won two masters mixed nationals titles and one ladies doubles and represented England at masters level in 45s and 50s. My greatest achievement and something I thought was unattainable for me was putting on my England shirt and making my debut against Scotland in both ladies and mixed disciplines in 2019. I’ve been league secretary for the Brighton and Worthing committee for one year and treasurer for 3 years. I currently play for Steyning Phoenix in Brighton and Worthing league and for Horsham in the Surrey league.
